On an $832K home, the 30 year mortgage payment at today's rate of 6.22% is $2,325 plus property tax. If you assume the average property tax of $8,300 and bank's housing costs 28% guideline, you have to have annual gross earnings of $130K with a monthly net of $8K. Only 30% of households meet that.

Multiple reports say Ferreira was driving to pickup her son when picked up by ICE and has been involved in custody matters. Leavitt should be asked why a source who knows the family said Ferreira had nothing to do with her nephew given if she's deported, her brother gets full custody. This is awful.

Asking Putin to call before Zelensky's visit to limit arms for a hollow peace promise isn't 'deal making'. It undercuts trust and everything else. Trump supports it and our allies are watching. Rep. Bacon is right Witkoff 'acts like he is on Russia's payroll', and 'he needs to be fired'.

People are having difficulty affording food for Thanksgiving and the administration is focusing on how people dress on airplanes. Tone deaf and consistent with their moves reduce SNAP food for the poor. Awful this week and any time.

An quote by Brian Eno on Klein's podcast is apropos. Eno said AI was being designed like 'a car that can go 750 mph but without brakes as they slow down profitability'. When the race for profits is high and keeping users engaged is key, we've seen it does not turn out well. It's time for regulation.

Truly hope this leads to a lasting and just peace for Ukraine but I must add that the President's Proposal and posts this weekend did not make me proud to be an American.

Women have been 2nd class citizens including 80% being sexually harassed as well as half with violence. The facts are Epstein involved many men, hundreds of girls and justice system that largely looked away. Only people will make DOJ change. It's simple. It's not a conspiracy but overdue justice.

After all the lawsuits, the administration remains committed to reducing food for the poor. TANF qualification varies widely with Red States generally having shorter benefit periods, caps and work requirements. Wonder if low-income Trump supporters know he is taking away food from them?

Not surprising in that we have the weakest Speaker in my lifetime. With all the issues we face, this needs to change. The only way is if Democrats take back the House in 2026.

You're right. Saying what's on your mind doesn't make it okay. Trump responding to the Washington Examiner's article posting US servicemen should be hanged not not following illegal orders says it all.

Cassidy's proposed prepaid Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are lower than current ACA subsidies. A low-income family now gets $6K-$10K/year in subsidies but will receive $2K-$3K in HSAs. With high deductibles and higher premiums, the poor can't afford this. That's a big step back and is terrible.

Difficult to know where we are. The deportation of a half million people keeps the unemployment rate low, the delay excludes some large events and the time to find a new job is increasing. Hope this turns more positive but Consumer Sentiment says it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Nvidia's net profit after tax is 56% ($31.9B profit/$57B sales). For comparison, the average public manufacturer had an 11% 2024 net income. Putting aside the question of monopolistic pricing, why are US households paying for new AI power plants in electric bills or government subsidies required?

Reflecting how we treated Ukraine and allies, remember Khashoggi... the reception for MBS is startling. As an expat, the view of the US was a country representing freedoms, human rights and the ascent of all. We're not perfect, but they're still powerful. We must return now to our founding ideals.

As Ken Burns documentary outlined the other night, one cause of the Revolution was Britain use of taxes to try to buy colonial judges. It was vital then to maintain impartial justice system. Understand these cases are hard to win but this case is important now to keep a fair justice system for all.

The key terms, interest rate, length, repayment schedule, etc. have not been disclosed. Makes it seem like a subsidy as opposed to a loan. While we struggle to fund food and healthcare, shouldn't the 'magnificent seven', in this case Microsoft, fund the projects that will bring them trillions?

A married man with children at 65 complains he’s “friend with benefits” and Epstein telling him how to manipulate shows how entitled these people think they are. They hold themselves up as pillars of society when they’re anything but. This needs more than just a step back. Harvard should fire him.

O'brien presents a sanitized version of Trump's first term and the last year. It's dangerous to not acknowledge how we have hurt alliances and just repeat Trump's truncated positions. Biden had shortcomings, but the world is more dangerous now and O'brien didn't present new ideas to address that.
