In the kids library today. Just a casual page on washing a car in the street. With a vibe of complete normalcy and "nothing wrong with this".

Cars are like cancer. Street's not even finished yet and drivers are already parking everywhere in future loading bays, avoiding parking.

We were in Berkeley for a couple of months this past spring and I got tired of taking these photos on day 3. It's grim.

I'll save this here for when we're discussing badly parked e-scooters.

2 different cars within 1h. With almost all parking spaces free, drivers choose to park blocking the only path.

One doesn't buy this car by accident. What sort of blue badge condition makes this a preferable choice? #Stockholm

Lots of this around Uppsala in recent years. Clear the forest or flatten the meadow and build a new house on it.

They'll argue that they need a car, will demand postal services, road maintenance, etc.

Why do we give permits for this?

Thanks #sodastream, I have zero questions after reading this.

(didn't buy)

A new bike path (and road!) in Uppsala. Curbs are sharp side to bikes. Plus there's a little offset protruding into the bike path at the bottom. Who signed off on this?!

Should we be thankful that we do not need to cross the 4 lanes of 80km/h road by pressing lights buttons? Or should we be annoyed that we have to descend into a ditch and then climb out of it while the vehicles travel undisturbed? BTW, a 4yo was pushing the bike out of there on the other side...

Someone in Uppsala didn't get the memo. Hard to pretend they bought this before Musk went crazy...

Yes, these are less dangerous than SUVs (limbs amputation, down from likely death), but as far as street space and emissions go, they are equally or similarly terrible.

I don't think I've ever had people snoop through my luggage (bike box) except for in the US (every time). At least they let you know, but still, scanning seems sufficient everywhere else.

Was finally going to see about the flatpak Signal instead of WhatsApp, and the community delivers even when it comes to reviews :).

Says "bought out of concern for our climate". In Berkeley, CA. Surely such a concern would lead to an e-bike... Plus Tesla isn't even the greenest EV on the market. Cheap try.

Berkeley, CA. Saturday morning children's playground. Someone's kid's bday. So they drive *into* the playground. These folks completely lost the plot. Nothing to do with car dependency or what the excuse usually is... Nobody *has to* do this.

#Stockholm should look into this too...

It's definitely a good thing to automate speed limit policing. One just wonders how they get around the obvious issue: a significant portion of cars here have unreadable license plates, or outright none.
March 16, 2025 at 6:01 PM
My best guess is that "cartelligent" is like a proud carbrain... At least there is a license plate on this one though, without a cover, and readable.

Trump wants to "end the death" by telling the victim to stop resisting. And he tells the victim that their cards are not great for negotiations.

One can't make this up.

Not this journalist apparently.

People are getting killed and seriously injured by Volvos and in Volvos. Microparticles from the tires of their heavy vehicles are through the roof. Their cars take public space like never before with the car bloat they push.

Yet here's the CEO boasting about 2nd year of record profits.

This is the result of pavement driving (private cars), generally tolerated in Uppsala, even though it's illegal and dangerous.

The vandalism though. Everyone knows who drives here. Imagine someone kept deflating people's car tires and that we knew who it was. Would people be quiet then too?

Marks of drivers driving to conditions (Uppsala, Sweden; residential area). Due care and attention and all that.

Safety is a shared responsibility, mine being not to be there. Vision Zero by not participating. Thanks.
