The House Budget Committee Resolution proposes these changes to the baseline budget budget deficits (not deficits in general). There’s a target of $500 billion more in cuts that are “pay fors” for the tax cuts and reduce those cuts if not set in law.

I think politicians are poor substitutes for debate by the most knowledgeable experts with differing views. Political expediency of the former make honest and informed debate unlikely.
