It’s amazing to me that people ask things like this utterly devoid of self awareness or irony. And no, you didn’t miss the part where they offered to pay for this help because it doesn’t exist.

also if you write about Greenland you really should use a circumpolar map or something that doesn't make it look massively huge. (I mean, it's very large, but not as big as it looks on the Mercator map.)

Incidentally, the Midway had a fairly long service life (put a pin in this) and served as the flagship in the Persian Gulf during the Gulf War.

The other carriers in this image are named Ranger, America and Theodore Roosevelt.

The Essex-class were the largest carrier class in WWII, with names like Ticonderoga, Franklin, Bunker Hill, Hancock, Bon Homme Richard, Oriskany, Tarawa, Valley Forge, Yorktown, Saratoga (and Kearsarge.) Named after historic ships, old carriers, and battles.

There's a current USS Kearsarge which is an amphibious assault ship (it lands Marines on shore). It's not an aircraft carrier; it just looks like one. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

Kearsarge was named after the sloop of war that sank the CSS Alabama in the Civil War. It had turrets mounted on turrets upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co... and later became a crane ship upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co.... It's the only USN battleship not named after a state.

Sam's team not only won the JB Marine tournament they played in this weekend (3-0, all three shutouts), but also finished undefeated in the SLYSA league with an extra game they fit in. This weekend he scored more goals than he let in as keeper (he plays striker sometimes). So proud of this kid.
