Tonight’s classic film on VHS. Robert Altman’s MASH. MASH was one of the 50 titles that Fox licensed to Magnetic Video in 1977, launching the home video revolution. This particular release was a 1979 reissue. The original 1977 release uses one of the worst transfers and is nearly unwatchable.

(1) A little piece of cinematic oddity: Superman in its initial home video release from 1979 on VHS. This version runs approximately 16 minutes shorter than it should. In the early days of home video, the technology wasn't up to fit long movies onto one cassette.

My inaugural title: a Star is Born. While the case is from 1980, the tape is a late 1980s printing.

With Bluesky I feel like I’m on the Enterprise in TMP and if they turn on a feature we’re gonna wind up in a wormhole because someone forgot to test something out and we went to warp with an engine imbalance. (Notice that never happened in any of the 24th century Trek series.)
