There is a book club organization out there emailing authors telling them the club will feature their work for a "modest fee" for "branded materials" etc. Do not fall for this nonsense. You should never, as a writer, have to pay for such things.

I don't know even what to say about the beauty of a simple free breakfast in lunch for all.

My kid gets to kindergarten, and the teacher says, "OK, who's hungry?"

Great for every kid in the room, especially those whose parents could afford it anyway. Every kid has fuel. Who wouldn't want that?
Free school lunches help kids succeed and families save money, but Matt Hall and his far-right caucus want to end the program. Gretchen Whitmer and Democrats are fighting for our kids and families. wwmt.com/news/local/g...

Good Superman stories are almost never about who wins the fights. They're about how to solve the problems.

Superman can do massive, mighty things. The story is about his figuring out what massive, mighty things he should do. About understanding, not about overpowering.
Which has always made Superman a tough character for me to like. I always think, “how can this guy lose?”

Also a repeat of the idea that because of events in L.A., Congress should pass the wildly unpopular omnibus bill that cuts Medicaid, SNAP, energy credits, and so on.
“Stand with ICE”—as if it’s an oppressed group deserving of solidarity 🤡. This is a simulacrum of leftist rhetoric, appropriated by the extreme right.

"It gets somewhat lost in all the other high octane dimensions of this story that a raid on a Home Depot is literally an effort to arrest people who are eager to work and whose labor is in great demand. It’s about as far as you can get from just going after the bad guys, as the WH routinely claims."
