I don't have any confidence in conviction even if he IS impeached. The Supreme Court is stacked in his favor (by his own actions).

Exactly! One isn't more deadly than the other but they create different threat levels.

I'm still musing over this but I'm open to suggestions. (Not just for d20 but for gaming as a whole)

And that doesn't seem fun on the player's side. To me, a level 20 fighter should be able to be far more lethal because of their acquired knowledge and skill, not just because they find magical items.

If you gave the same dagger to a level 1 fighter and to a level 20 fighter and asked them to strike the same target, without using any special maneuvers, the only real difference is that the level 29 fighter will be more accurate. In the end, they both still roll d4+str for damage.

On one hand, a dagger seems to be less lethal than a greatsword.... And yet, a dagger in the hands of a master is more deadly than a greatsword in a novice's hands....

In the d20 system, weapon damage doesn't increase with skill level, but the ability to hit more challenging targets increases.

In FATE characters have levels of stress that they can withstand before being "taken out", or eliminated from the scene.

What I'm trying around with is something closer to EZD6 where I ask the question "Why do weapons deal variable damage?"
December 11, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Several games have already eliminated certain steps. Into the Odd eliminated "to hit" rolls. You just swing your weapon and strike your target. The damage roll determines how lethal your swing was.

EZD6 eliminated variable weapon damage. If you hit, you hit.

This does not surprise me at all. Both are slime

Shadowdark is my go-to system, now. Mork Borg is great in concept but BRUTAL.

Depends entirely on my mood of the moment! Lol

First two were D&D 2ed and Werewolf the Apocalypse. I don't play either one, any more but they have been an influence on my game design!

I would say that if the game designs are solid but different, then they will appeal to different people. I know that I've been torn between two similar games and chosen the game whose mechanics appealed to me more.

My suggestion would be to incorporate the exploding dice mechanic into Flurry of Blows, but that's mostly just an editing rec.

You can get free quick start rules for Shadowdark. That will get you through the first few character levels and you can try it out!

Teenage Mutant Tunnel Goons by @jpcoovert.bsky.social ! Pretty sure you can only get it through his Patreon but it's totally worth it!

I'm with you. I'm stuck on the character class design phase!

🤣 Truth!

Bidding mechanics, pass/fail "buys", Jenga towers....

There's a guy on YouTube working on a tabletop wargame that uses dominoes for resolution

Coins, random value tokens draw....
