Lover of all innocent creatures. Especially our pollinator friends.
Hope to spread as much kindness as I possibly can.
Cause heck, who doesn't like kindness?

Being apart of a controlled burn to rid several invasive species at Izaak Walton in Homewood, Illinois was just SO super amazing. Because of their deep root system, all of the #nativeplants will grow stronger next spring. #bucketlist

I LOVE my wife, my kittens, and bees more than anything. Period. But the people that I've been advocating for over 40 years (learning, teaching, employing) are those with special needs. The Trump administration has now invaded my world... deeply. Please read this. ☮️

Multiple sources tell NPR that as part of the Trump administration's latest reduction-in-force, the U.S. Department of Education has gutted the office that handles special education.

Here in Homewood, IL the goldenrods are just starting to bloom. Just in time for my little bumblebee friend, who is looking pretty darn crazy hungry. The later blooming native flowers (i.e. goldenrods, asters,) are vital for any pollinator garden. Please #plantwithintent for these phenomenal beings.

We've got ourselves an overachiever here.
Aren't #bumblebees just the best? ☮️

I'm just SO honored that something so beautiful and magical would spend the last hour in my garden. And she was seriously

Went out to our #nativegarden early this morning, and was looking closely at the wonders of nature. To my surprise, a little bitty slug was slowing devouring a couple of black aphids on our early sunflower plant. It's kind of gross but truly amazing at the same time. ☮️

On the Good News-Bad News front in our #nativegarden, our amazing early sunflowers are littered with an assortment of those darn aphids. Fortunately our ladybug friend (natures vacuum cleaner), has found herself a meal or two. This little garden is SO full of life and surprises!! ☮️

I'm kind of thinking our bunny friend isn't too interested in us having August purple blooms on our New England asters this year. BUT you gotta love bunnies! #nativeplants #bunnies

Sadly, #Bumblebees are becoming as rare of a sighting as a white rhino walking down Dixie Hwy here in Homewood, IL. So I was thrilled to see this little gal on a salvia this morning. We've got lots of #nativeplants that will bloom soon, so hopefully we'll get more #bee friends in the coming days! ☮️

Last year we planted a mostly #nativeplants garden in the South suburbs of Chicago. Everything is coming up strong. And like a proud papa, I want to introduce our first Spiderwort flower (Tradescantia ohiensis)!! What a thrill! Bring on the #bees!! 🌺 🐝 ☮️

As the great Jackie DeShannon once sang, "What the World Needs Now is Love". This is truly LOVE to the innocent. ❤️
We saw a turtle heading toward an insurmountable barrier on the highway, so @vicky.science screeched off to the side of the road, and I jumped out and sprinted toward the turtle. When I went to run into the road I saw an 18 wheeler coming so I started yelling and waving my hands and they stopped 🥹

Calling all gardeners who want to "plant with intent" to help our struggling pollinators. Try planting my two favorites, Yellow Giant Hyssop (Agastache nepetoides) or Anise hyssop, Agastache foeniculum. The #bumblebees will come knocking in your garden! I promise! #nativeplants
