I think the return for Donovan, a perennial 3.0 WAR guy, is going to be significant. My point is, if you're pitching a possible trade like this, it's kinda useless to gauge or judge if you don't propose the possible prospects exchanged

What they DON'T include is two AAAA players who aren't better than the next two dudes in front of them on the depth chart if they joined the Cardinals. And I know you mentioned prospects which is why I said "'& prospects' is doing a lot of heavy lifting"

Lol no I know man we've been begging for a full rebuild for half a decade here, I'm under no illusions.
Bloom has already made a bunch of trades, and they're following a pretty consistent pattern: major league ready/experienced back of the rotation arm, and a high ceiling low A prospect

What sense does this make for the Cardinals?
Why would STL want an undrafted 30 yo SS and a 39th round non-prospect outfielder who wouldn't crack the top 6 OFs they have? That "& prospects" is doing A LOT of heavy lifting in a proposal where the Cards give away 1 of the best pieces and get little
