I tend to watch a lot of movies. Contributor at Next Best Picture and AwardsWatch. Member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. Massive James Bond fan and Ben Whishaw fanatic. (he/him)
Happy 30th to one of the very best Bond films.

Was recently made aware of this picture of Ben Whishaw

WAKE UP DEAD MAN is another engaging chapter in the Knives Out saga, this one bolstered by a good ensemble led by a riveting Josh O’Connor. The mystery is more a vehicle for spiritual commentary, which can stretch thin with the runtime. But it’s still a fun and compelling ride.

THE RUNNING MAN is propelled by Glen Powell’s powerful charisma and a handful of engaging action sequences. But its pacing is tedious, the writing is clunky, and the tone never really reaches a level that is consistently thrilling. Wright’s efforts mostly feel bland and mundane.

Should I be investing in the congressional candidacy of Manny Rutinel?

Never really been into Joe Keery all that much, but I am very much into how this shirt is fitting him.

Will I ever stop posting about him? Highly unlikely

Wish this was the look they kept for him because it’s so hot.

Decided to rewatch On Swift Horses recently, and have to say that I find myself liking it a bit more. Far from perfect, but I really like these characters. The ensemble is fantastic. Another great performance this year from Elordi. I’m in the minority of championing this film.

Didn’t recognize Kieron Moore in Boots at first but then realized I did just see him in Blue Film, one of the most interesting queer related films I’ve seen this year.

Like, seriously, why is he so beautiful

The Secret Agent has another hottie besides Wagner Moura, and it’s Gabriel Leone.

70mm IMAX coming to Woodridge, IL. I will soon not have to physically be in Indiana to enjoy this format.

HAMNET is often a powerful rendering of the grieving process that is most impactful when showcasing Jessie Buckley’s devastating performance. Some of the storytelling feels too direct, but Zaho’s intimate perspective crafts an engrossing character study that’s quite haunting.

RESURRECTION is a visually arresting display that hypnotically entrances its audience into the dreamy world it presents. Bi Gan’s commentary flourishes in themes, a journey that can be mesmerizing and tedious in equal measure. But it’s a grand statement on cinema to behold.

LEFT-HANDED GIRL is a wonderfully engaging portrait of family drama that succeeds due to its endearing characters. Nina Ye is an adorable anchor, but the whole ensemble is magnificent, especially Shih-Yuan Ma. The intimate storytelling creates a modest but captivating narrative.
