The future belongs to the connected. Former Chairwoman of the FCC. Always an impatient optimist. Mom, wife, inveterate coffee drinker.
Had my last meeting as the first Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission today. Made me think of this photograph of telephone operators. It was what women used to be able to do in communications technology. We have come a long way, but it is so important that the first is not the last.

Today and every day, remember Eugene Goodman.

Sometimes cleaning out the office yields unexpected gems, like the artwork my kids stuffed into an unassuming file years ago.

Thank you to NASA and especially Administrator Bill Nelson. He’s been a great colleague, a supporter of my efforts at the FCC to build the first-ever Space Bureau, and a terrific long-time public servant.

Cape Town, you’re a beaut. 48 hours at Africa Tech was terrific but also too short.

We won an Emmy! It’s true! At the FCC we won the award for creativity and engineering design in our broadcast incentive auction. Now I’d like to thank the academy . . . .

Out of this world trip to Los Angeles this week to see and learn about innovation in space communications. A big thank you to Bridgit Mendler and the team at Northwood Space, Rocket Lab, Varda Space Industries and AstroForge for hosting my office from the FCC. Ad astra!

The FCC helped get 988, the three-digit Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, up and running. Today we improved it by making sure wireless calls are routed based on nearby cell towers instead of area codes. Means more help is local. Got to champion this change with Secretary Becerra and Congressman Cardenas.

The FCC team with boots on the ground last week in North Carolina, following Hurricane Helene. Collecting outage data, reporting on public safety, coordinating with carriers, and testing signal strength and quality. So important. Because getting communications up and running puts recovery in reach.

A day home in New England, leaves just starting to turn, clouds painted in the sky. Grateful.

Rescue dog at the beach. Very mindful, very demure.

The kids are alright. At an elementary school in Los Angeles a student tells us how important it is to have internet access for homework. A joy to be a part of this knowing that the FCC is now making it possible for schools everywhere to loan out wireless hotspots for kids who need them.

I saw the sign.

Joined Senator Van Hollen and Mayor Scott in Baltimore to talk about how the FCC is making it possible for libraries and schools nationwide to loan out Wi-Fi hotspots to those who need them. Closing the digital divide, bridging the homework gap and building a digital future that works for everyone.

Feels like summah.

Got to tour Malden Public Library with Senator Markey, where he used to study. Now thanks to FCC efforts the library—and all libraries like it—will be able to loan out Wi-Fi hotspots to students and community residents, helping close the digital divide and making internet access available for all.

Out of this world conversation at the FCC with Charles Bolden, former astronaut and first African American to lead NASA. Space policy, satellite communications and more. A treat.

A long haul back from Asia, but breakfast with my kids the next morning (even if it feels like night) so good, so right.
