but overall, i don't understand how politicians appear to have no visibility into the problems that we're facing. healthcare is an enormous concern for people that are relatively well to do. it is not something that can just be ignored.

I think at some point, it becomes more like dental insurance where you aren't bundling risk, you're just getting a pre-negotiated price for healthcare. (Dental insurance, per year costs approximately the same as 2 cleanings and covers nothing else, basically.) Plus a backstop for catastrophes.

i started working out and it softened up my shoulders somehow? it's a mystery. maybe it killed brainworms. maybe it's the estrogen. but i'd recommend it.

I really like Pilates for strength training. I have strengthened muscles that I didn't even know I had! And it's very gender-affirming these days.

2. One video calls transgender people "anti-art" and inherently ugly. This is apparently fit to teach doctors and nurses how to care for transgender people in the United states.

I don't think it was possible to leave a writer's room in the 90s without putting some sort of transphobic joke into the media. Everything I watch from that era goes out of its way to say something shitty about trans people.

It sucks because we internalize these things ourselves.

i like the "charge card" model where you pay in full every month. easier to avoid getting yourself into trouble, but you still get rewards and a credit rating. (amex green or something is my specific recommendation. that was my first credit card and they've treated me as well as a bank can.)
