It's been a bottom 3-park for hitters the past few years

The wind patterns at Wrigley have been weird the past two years. It isn't just Tucker last year. Bellinger was terrible at Wrigley in 2024.
November 15, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Yes and no.

Tucker is better than his numbers.

Bellinger is worse than his numbers. I really wouldn't trust his production away from Yankee Stadium unless the price went down.

The Rogers Centre plays much more closely to Wrigley for LHHs than Yankee Stadium. Bellinger was a league average hitter outside Yankee Stadium. Tucker was an elite hitter outside Wrigley.

Do they play half their games at Yankee Stadium?

I'd laugh out loud if Scherzer signed with the Cubs.

I was out drinking with him in 2008. I asked him about his plans over the all star break, and he said he couldn't wait to go back to his parents' home and rip down the Jim Edmonds poster hanging over his bed because he'd signed with the Cubs 😂

They have to get the QB spot right. And that's likely about more than just picking the right talent. It's about the right infrastructure from coaches, to technology, to the talent around him. But that's obviously what went wrong for the Jets in 2022 ... and pretty much every year.
November 4, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Totally get it. And not a Jets fan here, but there's more to it in capped leagues.

Hypothetical, the Jets use one of the picks they got for Gardner on a CB. What level of production does that CB need to have before his salary (at a fractional cost) makes him just as valuable or more?

It's 2000 all over again...
November 4, 2025 at 7:08 PM
It's cool. You value hard-hit flyball pitchers that dont miss bats. Helluva way to build a team. Good luck
November 4, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Oh, no. Why on earth would they not pay him? Sure, he had the highest flyball rate in the league. And sure, only 4 guys gave up a higher barrell percentage. And sure, only 10 guys gave up hard contact more regularly. And sure, he was bottom 25 in K%...

But they're a big market! Just pay him!
November 4, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Or, you know, an organization that trusts their pitching infrastructure because of its multi-year run of successfully identifying middle of the market arms just thinks they can do it again...
November 4, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Yes. This was a massive story.
November 4, 2025 at 6:25 PM
The wind in Chicago has blown in like 70% of the time the past 2-3 years. The PF i used is the rolling 3 year. Only Seattle has played more pitcher friendly.
November 4, 2025 at 6:23 PM
Sorry. Second most pitcher friendly park. Their park factor is readily available to you...
November 4, 2025 at 4:57 PM
It was, Chris. It was a years-long lawsuit. From the Selig lying in the bankruptcy hearing about the msrkrt value of a future Dodger's TV deal to the Dodgers claiming risk in their ownership stake in the TV deal.
November 4, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Very aware. Are you aware of how bad Shota was for the final two months despite playing in, arguably, the most pitcher friendly park in the league? You don't need a top of the market investment to replace him. He was their 4th best SP.
November 4, 2025 at 4:47 PM
Thanks for the passport aggressiveness...

Good luck convincing people that it's a good move to make your 4th best SP one of 25 highest paid pitchers in the game.
November 4, 2025 at 4:45 PM
A majority of the SPs available aren't going to crack the top 20 in AAV.
November 4, 2025 at 4:41 PM
The Dodgers broke baseball through litigation, a lie by Selig and a semantics technicality put an additional $4 billion in their bank account. Stop comparing any ownership situation to that. If the Dodgers want someone, they get him because they stole a figure equal to the Cubs entire valuation. 😂
November 4, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Only 21 starting pitchers made more than $20 mil last year. So, I'm gonna guess that it will be incredibly easy to find a guy for less than $20 million you feel more comfortable pitching in big moments than you felt with Shota in October.
November 4, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Shota was unpitchable in a playoff situation. That isn't the ending anyone wanted to his Cubs tenure, but he made himself easily replaceable.

As for the Dodgers... I cannot disagree with that comment any more than I do. They're behemoths because they dodged the CBA tax on their TV revenue.
November 4, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Then questioned why he didnt throw it at Monengai's back on the 2pt conversion.
October 14, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Sure was. He gave that spot multiple times early and then stopped almost immediately after my comment 😂
October 12, 2025 at 4:11 AM
My point is that he's giving that spot consistently.
