Likewise always hated that name. Whose homeland is it, exactly?

What would it take to set the bar lower (so to speak) for disbarment? It seems as if there are a number of attorneys who should never be allowed to practice again after their role in this administration. Is a national law needed to make state bars enforce some standard?

The Neighborhood Street Fund is a popular program that allows communities to propose low cost ($100k to $1m) street improvements. There's never enough money to do more than a fraction of the proposed projects. Would you consider working with allies on the council to fund more of them?

Pike Place Market pedestrianization is widely regarded as successful. What other areas of the city could use a car free makeover? Would you consider a Ciclovia event like in Bogota, where miles of city streets are open to people and closed to cars periodically?

How will she work with allies on the council to address vacant storefronts? Will she consider any vacancy taxes or other incentives to prevent property owners from letting parcels lie unused for years?

Vacant storefronts also reduce foot traffic for restaurants. Caused by wealthy landowners who let their properties stay vacant for years, and covenants in commercial mortgages that require minimum rents, and code rules that make it hard to build successful ground floor restaurants in new buildings.

Also seems as if she's matched Harrell in the number of successful mayoral campaigns she's managed.

Most of industry is like the opposite of the old Army recruiting ad "We ask for experience, we don't give it."

What specific code changes or exemptions should we be pursuing?

My Seattle neighborhood (Columbia City) lost a community anchor (the local funeral home) to arson. Now a huge parcel is up for redevelopment & neighbors rightly fear it will be another 1BR/studio apartment block with unsuccessful retail. What could an urbanist mayor and council do to make it thrive?

I would love to see the mayor and council address vacant storefronts. There should be a vacancy tax on commercial property owners (with wealth-based scaling, and exemptions if you allow pop-ups or use of your space by nonprofits.

He's an underminer. He breezed through Seattle and endorsed the incumbent mayor, for no reason I can identify other than centrist money was lining up on his side. Ruined his credibility for me (though to be fair, what activists had said about his term as mayor had already done that).

When I was at the Federal Highway Administration, one big barrier to change was how many people didn't understand the massive subsidies given to cars. Drivers thought gas taxes covered all costs...it doesn't even cover capital costs of roads.
