Flash bangs were launched at crowd of Bay Area protesters just as Customs & Border Protection SUVs drove onto a base in Alameda.

After talking to tech barons, Trump tells Mayor Lurie he's "calling off" a "surge" of feds to SF.

It's not clear if this applies to ICE/Border Patrol or just to the Nat'l Guard. It's not clear what will befall other area cities.

Meanwhile, Mayor Daniel Lurie at noon addressed his conversation with Trump and Trump's decision to call off the “surge” of S.F.

What exactly that “surge” would look like did not seem to have been defined over the course of that conversation.

a little bit ago now, at 11PM, San Francisco police & sheriff's deputies rushed July 4 crowds in the Mission

they'd been lighting fireworks near Garfield Park, as they do most years, before SFPD declared unlawful assembly

they routed the crowd, at least one was arrested

UPDATE: SFPD now says over 150 people were arrested last night after the protests against ICE in downtown San Francisco—148 adults, and six juveniles.

Almost all were cited and released.

Mayor Daniel Lurie on Tuesday announced a slate of reforms aimed at boosting San Francisco's flagging number of police officers & sheriff's deputies.

But the order also said the city is going to look into ballooning overtime costs at SFPD.

On the first Friday of April, a father sat in SF’s Behavioral Health Court for 7 hours, hoping to see his son diverted away from a criminal trial and toward psychiatric help. 

“It’s sad,” he said. “His fate is in another person’s hand.”
