It's Martin Scorsese's birthday today! In celebration, my four favorite Scorseses:
1. Clash T-Shirt Scorsese (RAGING BULL)
2. Spotlight Scorsese (AFTER HOURS)
3. Vincent Van Gogh Scorsese (DREAMS)
4. Martin Scorsese by King Missile

That said, it feels like a majority of my creativity has gone into the game this year, and it's hard not to get "Could a depressed person make this?" vibes after finishing an in-game project. My only hope is that it's helping to keep some muscles working until I get back to consistent art making.

Another I have more mixed feelings about is Minecraft. I'd never played til around last year, until a friend invited me to join their server. I've really gotten into it, and it's been a fun way to indulge in low-stakes creativity and hang out with buds...

Also love Peter Riegert and Denis Lawson together in this movie as well.

Me, after watching movie: I'll log this on @letterboxd.social, but I want to take some time to consider what I'll write for a review.

#MovieChallenge MIDNITE SPARES (1983, d. Quentin Masters)
A sprint car driver returns to his hometown to find his missing father, while also tearing up the race track and thwarting a chop shop ring with his buds. Another wild Australian car flick!

Crazy how that was filmed 10 years before I got one. 🤔
Anyway…

Tenuous, but I'd go with Wood Job! The Easy Life In Kamusari (2014)

☑️ #MovieChallenge TAXI (1998, d. Gérard Pirès)

A clueless cop who can't drive meets a street-smart taxi driver with a lead foot. Their adventures are pretty dumb, but at least they lead to some chaotically-fun driving scenes.

#MovieChallenge SPINOUT (1966, d. Norman Taurog)

Elvis Presley plays a musician (big stretch) who'd rather race cars and live free rather than get tied down with the one of the three girls vying for his affections. Singing, dancing, and motorized hijinx ensue.

☑️ #MovieChallenge DEAD END DRIVE-IN (1986, d. Brian Trenchard-Smith)

Filmed in Sydney, Australia, just like Mission: Impossible 2 (and with just as many explosions)!

In the future, drive-ins are being used as concentration camps for criminal youths, but one teen is on a mission to. Get. Out!!

Been seeing this movie getting mentioned in film circles, as it's getting a fancy new physical release. I'm sure it's great, but every time I see the title, I know I'll be disappointed that it doesn't feature Vincent Price warning audiences that "the Juggler is loose in the theatre!"

#MovieChallenge ...WATCH OUT, WE'RE MAD (2022, d. Niccolò Celaia & Antonio Usbergo)
I saw there was a remake of this movie, so watched it out of curiousity. Really just a bland modern action movie, and disappointing that the updated cover of the theme song wasn't bad in a fun way.

#MovieChallenge WATCH OUT, WE'RE MAD (1974, d. Marcello Fondato)

Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer get their beloved dune buggy wrecked by gangsters, and go through all manner of comedic fisticuffs to get compensation.

Really funny when it's in sicko mode, but everything else was boring or grating.
