The thing is, Democratic candidates already poll voters and align their platforms to match. But they're often burdened by a nationalized debate that's dominated by right-wing framing. www.pbump.net/o/politics-i...
Politics is more than temperature-taking
Political campaigns, the axiom has it, are nothing more than a math problem. Get 50 percent of the vote, plus one, and you win. Doesn't matter the race; that holds. So all a candidate needs to do, how...

Democrats, Trump is increasingly unpopular and he will keep sinking as he destroys the economy. For the love of God, stand up and fight. Don't cave. Be an opposition party and reflect the anger of the majority. Win over people. It won't be as hard as you think. Stop being scared.

There is nothing more obviously inevitable to me than everyone eventually concluding that, no, you can't work with the Trump admin., you can't "find areas of compromise," you can't treat this as normal politics, the only option is total, unremitting opposition. Everyone will get there eventually.

Lots of people out there saying, "at least by fucking everything up they're showing how incompetent they are, which will turn voters against them."

I just wonder where in the world people get this hope. America made it all the way through the election in near-total ignorance. Why would that change?

One under-appreciated, under-discussed explanation for Trump winning is simply that the people who voted for him believed a wide array of false things. The mainstream commentariat's refusal to center information rot has led to much confusion.

Highly recommend this piece from @karlbode.com:
America’s Right-Wing Propaganda Problem Might Be Terminal | Dame Magazine
America’s descent into mass delusion isn’t happenstance. The demise of courageous journalism isn’t a happy accident. Its replacement with engagement-chasing infotainment and propaganda isn’t an error....

No, but you do have to accept some truths that rub hard against the liberal ethos:

1. Most people are civically illiterate.

2. Bc they are illiterate propaganda works

3. You can’t beat a propaganda campaign using normal “comms” strategy.

4. Yes, I’m mean but I’ll win shit.
