And are you familiar with this picture? He couldn't remember his lines so Duvall *wore cue cards* and Corolla filmed him from behind. Insane shit.

Florry is the best young band there is. So fucking sweet, catch them when they come your way! You know it's good when you can't get a good picture of them standing still...

Had a good time playing and singing last night in Milwaukee, as did all the many other people there, just out of frame, watching.

It was a pretty good crowd, actually, that room is weird. I also went third of fifteen, with two bands to follow, so it got busier, and NOT just because I finished.

Hell yeah, Gemini, good job, it's so cool we have completely turned over the US economy to technology that doesn't know stuff and can't find the correct information.

Felt like shit and wanted to feel better so went to the record store and the first thing I saw was the Bluesky homey @franziamom.bsky.social's latest. Message received, universe. Sounds great!

Just came across this picture in my camera roll from Phish at the UC in July and had a momentary panic attack.

Some fun pics, didn't take any video and frankly it's a miracle these exist.

Traded it and a Baby Taylor for a full-size Taylor acoustic electric. Needed a new gigging acoustic, ended up getting a $1500 guitar for less than $500 with a hardshell case. Happy with my decision, got a final jam in and the old axe had already run it last race. Can't wait to break this in.

Traded in my first important guitar today. Got it for my birthday when I was 15, had it all through high school and college, first band in Nashville and our kitchen punk band in Chicago, but hadn't played it regularly in over a decade and it was gonna be a lotta money to fix. Time had come, today.

"Nice, man, glad you got what you were looking for."

I don't have much good to say about this band other than this one anymore, but this album remains a tentpole for me, and I can still to this day listen to it basically whenever and feel better.

Mdou Moctar was a big gateway there, but I caught Takaat earlier this year, which is the rest of his band without him, doing a slightly punkier style of Tuareg, and they didn't have a very big setlist but it was awesome.

Here's one from April in Milwaukee. So fucking good.

This is a sweet picture of my friend's kid dancing at my show on Saturday.

MILWAUKEE FOLKS! I'm playing this show tomorrow at Dead Bird Brewing Co. during Doors Open MKE, come hang out if you're free. It says I go on at 3 on the poster but I'll actually start at 2:45 (and go to 3:30). Lots of other cool and good people playing it, too, and it goes all day, let's party!

I'm doing my part!

(Pup Rosenstock Double Band "You Oughta Know" finale from Madison, 9.4.25, with Ekko Astra running on-stage midway to dance)

Bob Dylan hasn't played "Blowin' in the Wind" live in six years and I have to believe neither knows nor cares who Charlie Kirk was.

I recommend giving this one a spin this evening, not because it says the word "Joy" on the cover but because every song stands in direct, proud opposition to what that motherfucker dedicated his life to making real. RIP Bozo, you made the world a worse place to live in your brief time in it.

Another AI shitshow, wherein Google tells me that the three books of Marlon James's Dark Star trilogy are Black Leopard, Red Wolf; Moon Witch, Spider King; and The Boy and the Dog are History, a children's book by an Asian author.

This is outrageous! How do these people live with themselves?

Every once in a while I remember that Fred Cash is still alive, double-check to make sure that remains true, and feel better about things for a little while.
September 7, 2025 at 2:23 AM
So AI tells me that Selena Gomez was married the year she was born, in 1992, was murdered in 1995, but also is somehow currently alive and well and engaged to Benny Blanco?

Much to think about.

Post a random picture or else everything will go bad in September

Sticking to this rule led me to purchase this record last week, BURNOVER by Greg Freeman, which is *so fucking good*, and why I didn't purchase the new Corey Hanson, which is none of my business for $31.99.

Also why I bought MANNING FIREWORKS, my fave record of '24, without having heard a track.
