I recently described myself as a "renaissance nerd" and that feels accurate. Actor, writer, software dev, most things nerdy, most things sporty. He/him
Boy, Fincher really didn't go hard enough in THE SOCIAL NETWORK, did he? Yeesh, what a pathetic bitter loser Zuck morphed into. Or maybe it's just his truest final form

The man makes TURTLENECKS cool. That should be impossible

Guess I didn't expect the party that helped usher in the New Deal and the Great Society would be so eager to be lapdogs to these utterly stupid but cruel shitwagons

On the one hand, I get it! I'm a lazy mofo too! And I like my privilege! And I'm also pretty timid, all things considered! But Jesus Christ on a bike, at some point, you either stand for the words that come out of your mouth or you're a craven weenie lapdog

It did not, of course. Biden, Harris and the mainstream of the DNC should've come out strong against the ongoing horrors being inflicted upon the people of Gaza. They didn't, and that should've been the straw, the giveaway that Dems weren't gonna be the ones to save us from Really Stoopid Fascism

I've been a registered Democrat for as long as I've been a voter, so that's over 30 years now (ugh, I just threw up in my mouth a little at THAT) and I think I'm done with them. I should've been over the Gaza stuff, but I convinced myself that Real Politik required Nth Dimension chess positioning

Gaiman isn't interested in learning or self reflection or taking any sort of responsibility for his DECADES of predation. So fuck him. I hope he eventually dies penniless and alone and FORGOTTEN
January 15, 2025 at 9:04 PM
I was prepared to feel some semblance of pity for him, given his upbringing & the mind-warping years he was exposed to Scientology as a youth. Not to excuse his predation, but to maybe give it some sort of context. But really, Neil? Some women got their fee-fees hurt? That's what you're going with?

I'm gonna guess Two Gents (cuz no one EVER does Two Gents)
January 15, 2025 at 7:27 PM
So fuck that guy. And fuck Amanda Palmer too - she enabled him for far too long. And I hope their kid isn't fucked up for life because of Gaiman perpetrating abuse in front of him (or in the same room). And I hope his victims can find some peace and justice in the future.

I could go on. So I grieve that loss. But I'll get over it, and probably pretty quickly. The women that Gaiman abused have to live with his assaults probably for the rest of their lives. (I know I still experience trauma echoes from the SA committed against me in college, 30+ yrs ago)

Gaiman's impact is greater, of course, both culturally and personally. One of the things that got me thru the early pandemic was doing Zoom readings of the official script book for the first season of GOOD OMENS. I've replaced the novel of GOOD OMENS 3-4 times because I've "loaned" it out

I was trying to do the whole "separate the art from the artist" thing when the allegations first broke last year, but after reading the Vulture article (EXCELLENT reporting and writing, btw) that feels impossible. I couldn't do it with Card, and Ender's Game was one of my all-time favs
January 14, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Or maybe all three? Who knows, given what he must've seen growing up. (And that doesn't excuse his behavior one iota, btw - maybe it provides insight, maybe it doesn't, but Gaiman had ample opportunity to do the work on himself and eschewed it at every turn)
