I do have some apprehension about their growth in society from an environmental impact and creative ethics perspective.

I work in legal IT. I've definitely seen their rise in usefulness for the lawyer and non lawyer staff in the industry. I think one big improvement they could have is being more open about their limitations, to teach people to use them as a tool instead of a complete automation of their job.
