same! growing up i never saw adults enjoying reading, or doing it in their spare time. wasn’t until i was in an accelerated reading program & nurtured by caring teachers that i realized it could be a fun hobby and way to learn. also, i was positively incentivized by Pizza Hut’s “Book It” program.🫶🏾

My parents did not read a lot nor encourage me to read often, but I fell in love with it after the accelerated reading program was introduced to my school! (I was 11 at the time). I started making it a challenge to read as many books as I could to get awards
