"My fundamental question is what would we be fighting for?"

💬 @jowusunepaul.bsky.social says it's hard to argue for conscription when young people have seen living standards decline.

Britain has a new role to play in taking a diplomatic and strategic lead in the face of Russian aggression.

I am confident Britain can do that 🇬🇧🇬🇧

It was a real pleasure to join the Homerton College Politics Society and then to speak at the Fabian Society New Year Conference. Sharing my thoughts on the fight against right-wing populism on both sides of the Atlantic, and the importance of a ‘new’ social-democratic contract.

Today marks the 44th anniversary of the New Cross Fire.

After all these years, it is so important we remember all those who suffered or lost their lives as a result of this tragedy.

Thank you to All Saints New Cross for the moving service.

Tackling Child Poverty should be the immediate priority of any government.

If means testing pensions were to save money, that should be then spent tackling the high levels of poverty in the UK.

Like most things, in politics we assume it to be a long march for better. This starts with ideas that challenge consensus and are bold for the future.

With that, it was so nice to join @rennerinstitut.bsky.social & Progressive Britain discussing where next for socialists and social democrats.

We need to create an environment where women feel as though they can raise their concerns and that we stamp out sexism and misogyny.

It's time the British Museum addresses slavery.

We want to see a room at the British Museum for slavery, so it can tell a better story of how we got here and who we are.

Why does the British Museum need to talk about slavery? - Good Law Project
We’re teaming up with The World Reimagined to launch a campaign to make sure our national museum tells our national story, with a permanent exhibit about the transatlantic slave trade.

Delighted to host alumnus @jowusunepaul.bsky.social at Selwyn. I’m politically unaligned, but Jovan is a remarkable communicator and he should go far in politics.
Thank you to @selwyn1882.bsky.social and North East Cambridgeshire Labour Party for inviting me to speak last night about the rise of Reform UK, and why a Labour government must deliver for communities to prevent the growth of the far-right. #JovansTalkingTour
