Inspiring to hear from creatives and leaders at my recent music roundtable. Each overcame the challenges of being from a working-class background to become successful.

Looking forward to speaking to others and discussing how we can improve working-class access across the creative industries.

I've championed votes for 16- and 17-year-olds since I was elected in 2015.

I meet so many amazing young people in our local schools - they deserve the chance to shape their own futures.

By the next General Election, they'll have the right to vote.

I joined local charity Entelechy Arts for Ambient Jam. Using dance and improvisation, artists and people with profound disabilities find non verbal and mindful ways to communicate. For more information entelechyarts.org

(1/2) Brilliant to see the Gov announce £1bn of funding to community-owned energy projects across the UK.

From council tenants saving money on their bills, to community centres making profits for local enterprises, there are huge opportunities.

Many thanks to everyone who attended the Woodpecker Community Meeting over the weekend.

This was another productive meeting of residents, Ward Councillors and community stakeholders where we discussed progress on planned improvements to Woodpecker Estate.

(1/4) Turning inward to a leadership contest now would be both wrong and counterproductive when there is still so much vital work ahead. Our focus should remain on delivering the change voters asked for, not distracting ourselves from it.

A special thank you to Game Dev Local Founder & CEO Stuart De Ville for inviting me to Goldsmith’s University recently for the opening day of Global Game Jam, the biggest community event for game creators in the UK.

"I don't know what will happen to UK culture if we close the doors on making it accessible."

I couldn't agree more.

Kate Nash talking total sense when responding to my question on class & its relevance in the music industry, specifically touring in the EU as a British artist.

This #WorldCancerDay, I'm really pleased to see the Gov unveil a new Cancer Plan that will make sure 75% of patients diagnosed from 2035 will be cancer-free or living well after 5 years.

Lewisham Speaking Up's Question Time never fails to be a valuable & informative event in my calendar.

A chance for me & @elliereeves.bsky.social to answer the tough questions & hear members talk about how I can better represent their experiences as people with learning difficulties in parliament.

Pubs and music venues are a cornerstone of our communities, yet many are at risk of closure.

Nearly 50 MPs - including myself - signed a letter to the Chancellor calling for these vital spaces to be better protected against tax increases.

Fantastic morning at CTK Aquinas on Friday. I was seriously impressed by the students' curiosity & confidence - they asked questions on politics, social media, international relations & everything in between.

Always a pleasure to hear directly from the next generation.

In Lewisham, we have a proud history of welcoming refugees and immigrants, so much so that we became the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary.

My caseworkers and I have also supported many hundreds of people with their immigration applications since I was first elected in 2015.

This Gov will not give in to wealthy investors trying to lobby and dilute our manifesto commitment. Labour is fighting for leaseholders who have faced injustice for too long. Our priority is to make their life more affordable.

I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, pledging my dedication to marking Holocaust Memorial Day – honouring the 6 million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust.

As fascism rises globally, this day reminds us why liberal democracy must be protected.

Brilliant to watch Channel4's 4Schools workshop with Year 9s at Addey and Stanhope last Friday.

The students were given the chance to explore careers in creative industries - in broadcast, film and digital - and even had a go at developing their own content ideas.

After a decade of Tory cuts, the Gov is investing £1.5b over five years to protect and restore cultural spaces across the country.

That includes:
🖼️ £760m for museums
🎨 £425m for arts venues
🏯£230m for heritage buildings
📖 £27.5m for libraries

Pleased to see Trump has taken back his threat to impose tariffs on the UK and other European allies.

The UK will always stand up against this kind of bullyish and divisive behaviour. The future of Greenland is for its people to decide.

Today, Labour has launched the Warm Homes Plan:

✅ Lifting up to 1 million families out of fuel poverty
✅ Tackling the affordability crisis
✅ Delivering new rights for tenants

Funded by a £15 billion investment, it will roll out clean power upgrades to millions of families.

NHS waiting lists are down by more than 312,000 since Labour came into office.

Great to see what this means locally: @lgtnhs.bsky.social's waiting lists have fallen by 13,289.

There's still much to do, but pleased the Gov's investments are starting to pay off.

Over 400+ constituents have been in touch with me concerned about the harms of social media on young people.

I - alongside 60 other MPs - have now signed a letter urging the Prime Minister to raise the minimum age for access to social media platforms to 16 years old.
We all know the harm social media causes to young people's mental health.

The Labour Govt has acted significantly in recent months.

Today, 61 Labour MPs have written to the PM urging him to go further.

We back an Australia-style model that puts the onus on tech firms to block under 16s access.

An honour to attend the service to mark the 45th anniversary of the New Cross Fire yesterday.

As ever, the strength shown by the survivors & families & friends of the 14 young people who lost their lives - as well as the wider community - was incredible.

Thanks to St Andrew's Brockley for hosting.

After the Tories slashed funding for the Freedom Pass scheme, I'm proud to see Labour councillors protect this lifeline for 1.2 million over 65s.

Brilliant to visit Acme Artist Studios today to celebrate a £2.2m investment in the Mayor of London’s Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) programme.

Thanks to £250,000 from the CEZ capital funding, Acme have been able to purchase their building - The Propeller Factory - outright.

Did you know Tamil is the fourth most widely spoken language in Lewisham?

With Thai Pongal starting today, I wanted to shed light on the fact that January is Tamil Heritage Month.

Thank you to the Tamil community for your contributions to the borough.
