DEI isn’t about lowering standards or giving certain ethnicities unfair advantages. It’s about being proactive in trying to correct some of these injustices, which ultimately leads to better outcomes for society for everyone

After a while I became disillusioned and eventually left the organization. Blamed myself for my failure to climb the corporate ladder. I’m now more clear eyed about the hidden factors behind my unfortunate experience, but I still struggle with feelings of shame and inadequacy

My supervisors didn’t think I could be in leadership because there were literally no Asians at VP level or above in my organization. Their heuristic didn’t include people that looked like me

I was told by multiple supervisors that I was doing good work but wouldn’t be considered for promotion because I didn’t have what it takes to be in leadership or a VP didn’t like my style
