Mom to the #flyingdog and #LesserSpottedSid. I'd love to reinvent myself, but I love beach sunrises and rugby too much to change. Catch me in a tree somewhere, or getting my hands dirty. Bridging divides between people and nature, making change happen.
Person at the airport blasting hooting and yelling reels from his phone. People around looking uncomfortable, but saying nothing. I offered him my spare set of headphones. Immediately he turned the volume down. Maybe a bit passive aggressive, but I don't have the patience for that before a flight.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

Lying in bed, listening to the wind rustle the palm tree, watching the moon throw shade in strange angles across the garden, the city quiet in the background, birds and cars yet to awaken. Tranquil in the early morning silence.

Scenes as South Africa are through to the quarter finals, apparently for the first time ever?

Sad for Italy who look devastated.

Misty, hazy morning. Grey sky blurring into the horizon. Ship lights the only marker between sea and sky. Air thick with sticky salt and the sweet smell of the ocean. A beach deserted, the only signs of life, footprints disappearing into the haze.

My nephew is the videographer / photographer on this piece, and I'm bursting with pride. Can't wait to watch it. I've never looked forward to a Sunday night so much!

An ex work colleague who, when we worked together, only ever messaged in the middle of the night and Sundays. Would take weeks to get back to you and then demand immediate responses on all platforms. We have not worked together for a year. Last night, midnight, a message. Instant knot in my stomach.

Sunrise from bed after a 35 hour travel day is a special treat. Pup cuddles even Moreno. And the fact that we were offline while the world went mad and we took a step closer to oblivion isn't unnoticed.

If you’re lucky, you’re on this earth for maybe, what, 70, 80 years? Is it really too much to ask you to just leave other people alone and let them try to have a nice life without you being an absolute nob head about it?
