Whenever I spend time with med students I’m reminded why I do what I do. The energy that fills the rooms at orientation each year is magnetic, refreshing and gives me hope.

Congrats @ubcmedicine.bsky.social class of 2029: hold on to this feeling. And remember @cmadocs.bsky.social has your back 💪

July 1 thousands of new residents across Canada begin their work as doctors

It’s the start of long shifts, tough lessons and meaningful moments. They’ve trained for this. They’re passionate, hardworking and they are ready

Spot a red backpack? 👀🎒 That’s a new grad!

Last night at the @cjf-fjc.bsky.social Awards in Toronto, @lenardmonkman.bsky.social was awarded the Indigenous Health Fellowship – a meaningful collaboration between CJF and @cmadocs.bsky.social ‬to support Indigenous voices in health journalism.

A strong economy requires healthy Canadians and an accessible, resilient health care system. 🩺

With the push to reduce provincial trade barriers at today’s First Ministers meeting, now is the right time to make sure doctors can practise anywhere they are needed at any time.

Today marks my last day as President of the CMA. As I wrap up my term with @cmadocs.bsky.social, I want to thank you all - patients and physicians - for allowing me to advocate on your behalf.

Canadian health care has a long way to go, but I know we’re headed in the right direction.

I had a great discussion with Dr. Michael Gardam and Amanda Lang about the rise of measles cases, the decline of vaccinations, and challenges faced by families in Canada from misinformation.

King Charles' visit has me and many others reflecting on Canada's unique identity, and the universal health care system that will always be a part of it.

Congratulations Marjorie Michel, Canada's new Health Minister! With your extensive experience in government and politics, I'm confident you'll bring positive changes. Looking forward to working together with you and @cmadocs.bsky.social to make real improvements in our health system.

Today is #NationalPhysiciansDay!

Doctors: Thank you for providing quality, evidence-based care to patients across Canada. Thank you for sharing accurate health info. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. THANK YOU.

You’ve probably heard me say it: Health care is political, but it is not partisan. The health of Canadians should not be a divisive issue. We need all parties and decision makers #FightingForCare.
April 19, 2025 at 5:48 PM
I’ve spent the past few weeks meeting with candidates from all parties, and having great conversations about the importance of health care accessibility in our country.
April 19, 2025 at 5:48 PM
I just sent a letter to all party leaders, and made one message very clear: There is no version of Canada’s future without a functioning health care system.

I recently received an email from a U.S. trained doctor practicing in Canada. She outlined these hurdles for international physicians wanting to move here. I hear you - and these are exactly the types of barriers @cmadocs.bsky.social is working hard to break down.

Income is the #1 determinant of health. Now, as our income as a country is being threatened, so too is our health. Health care needs to be at the forefront of this federal election, across party lines.
April 9, 2025 at 2:02 PM
We are fighting for healthcare this federal election and I’m still feeling so inspired by the important conversations that took place over the past few days at #CMAHealthSummit.

Physicians and medical learners - we want to hear about your experiences with burnout, anxiety, depression and other wellness indicators in medicine.

Welcome, Minister Kamal Khera (@kamalkheralib.bsky.social)!

Minister Mark Holland (@markhollandlib.bsky.social), thank you for all your hard work.

Funding for preventative care can ease the strain on our system, supporting good health now, and into the future.

Thank you, Empire Club of Canada, for hosting this event, “Moving Primary Care Beyond Crisis”. It couldn’t have come at a more crucial time.

Canada needs to prioritize filling in the gaps in our health system. Physicians should be able to move from province to province - without applying for a new, costly license.
February 28, 2025 at 6:11 PM
As a Manitoban, I'm thrilled to see that Minister @markhollandlib.bsky.social announced that Manitoba is the first province to reach a pharmacare deal with the government.

This is a huge step forward for Canada. Access to life saving medication should never be based on your ability to pay.
February 27, 2025 at 7:03 PM
My first visit to Yellowknife was nothing short of amazing. I had the pleasure of joining the Northwest Territories Medical Association’s annual meeting, and discussing the health system issues that uniquely affect Canada's northern and remote regions.
February 26, 2025 at 2:17 PM
I am so honoured to have received the King Charles medal.

This medal is a symbol of contributions made to our community and to Canada. I look forward to continuing these contributions, in the form of advocacy for quality, timely, accessible health care - for all Canadians.
February 19, 2025 at 8:23 PM
If you had a chance to talk to a politician, what would you tell them?

As I reflect on the past year of my work with @CMA_docs, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to advocate for every Canadian within our health system.
