When masked men in plain clothes approach you as you are walking down the street, take your belongings, surround and touch and cuff you, this is how this works now? They say "we're police" and you're supposed to go with them?

This segment from @maryannefranks.bsky.social is an incredibly tight argument that captures the breadth of the Trump assault on free speech perfectly and in less than a minute.

Spread it far and wide.
WOW. Watch a constitutional law expert completely DEBUNK Republicans’ censorship crusade, while articulating exactly how Donald Trump is threatening freedom of speech. 🔥

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days I’ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

With Handmaids Tale people focus on the shock of the mass rapes in the book and the show.

But how the regime came to be in power in that book keeps me awake at night because it is playing out in very intricate detail in our real lives right now.

Fascinating how many liberals want to accept the unproved premise that we are less happy and justify it.

I reject even the premise. Self-reporting is not a reliable measure.

Considering how conservatives *act* like bitter, angry people, I'd think they aren't as happy as they say.
Literally, this can be explained in one simple way: Conservative women are told they're failures unless they plaster on a smile and pretend everything is great, even when it's not.

Liberal women aren't so oppressed and feel free to want more.
