A great read. In my early life my family was part of the working poor. We endured many of the same struggles. The assistance we received from the government & non-profits was vital to help us survive and find a path out of poverty.

I will not mourn the death of a bigot whose words endangered the lives and livelihoods of marginalized people. Living in one of the least diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn, I routinely encounter nervous white people while I walk around my neighborhood. Saving my mental bandwidth to keep myself safe.

My student loan server stated I can keep my reasonable monthly payment for now (thanks to Biden's SAVE plan) but as of 3/11/2026 my monthly payment will be $19,788.83! I have worked for government and non-profits so PSLF will save me before then, but what is going to happen to everyone else?

Over the past six weeks, it's become glaringly obvious that billionaires and democracy don't mix well. Something tells me that renewing their tax cuts won't help. Let's not do that.
