I'mma let you all in on a little secret: Star Fox's writing has always been cringey "fan fiction" goofy shit. It's space opera anime melodrama tropes all the way up and down and does not take itself seriously at all.

That said, Command got hit with the Treehouse bat, which shows pretty badly.
Star Fox Command

???????????????????????????
What the hell happened here? What possessed Nintendo to make Star Fox 2 with the most fan fiction writing ever? This is the closest thing to Nintendo’s own Shadow the Hedgehog. I’ll give it points for this ending though. Funniest of the bunch imo

For however messy Zero was I am begging people to stop calling it a “remake” of 64. It isn’t! It plays nothing like 64, it feels nothing like 64, it’s levels are nothing like 64, it’s aesthetics aren’t even like 64, and most of the damn locations aren’t even in 64.
Nintendo hadn't made a Starfox game with their own hands since 64. After 20 years they release Zero with Platinum's help and it's an absolute mess of a game, and a remake of 64 to boot. There is no "right time".

I do not understand how anyone can look at a game that is functionally Ubisoft's crappy open world collect-the-shit format, but now with a jet (that feels like ass to control), and think, "wow, I wish Star Fox was this!". How does this god awful game design template keep gaslighting people.
I still can't believe this was one of the best Star Fox games of all time. I really wish Nintendo partnered up with this Ubsioft team to create a full Star Fox game in the same style

Posts like this always bewilder me. Why are so many people's go-to idea for Star Fox just "Mass Effect"? Star Fox is not a deep, rich narrative with involved worldbuilding. It's a quirky pastiche of space opera tropes and character archetypes, rooted in serial adventure.
I really think Nintendo needs to reinvent StarFox and make it a space fairing action RPG, kind of like mass effect.
With a huge focus on characters, spaceship combat, and upgrading and kitting out your spaceship for combat.

[❗️] I won’t be posting on r/starfox from today onwards! I’ve always been a little bothered by many people there and I think the moderation on the sub isn’t handled very well, and now that I’ve found more enjoyable communities elsewhere I’m able to drop that place. No hard feelings!
