No nuke testing since '92 but carrying that football around with him has turned into a kid attempting to not touch his trick or treat harvest.

I want to have been in Walter Reed with him. Did Trump boldly declare "tiger, elephant, giraffe" to the psychologist? Did they lie to Trump and tell him he got them all right? Did he get them right at that point, but is so impaired that he can't later recall what animals he was looking at?
“A tiger, an elephant, a giraffe…”

Your average Thursday morning:
Terry Rozier arrested on fixing games/stats.
Chauncey Billups arrested on high stakes poker.
Damon Jones arrested for who knows what kind of betting.

I hate sports gambling.

Step 1: Spend $21B aiding Israel in genocide.
Step 2: Tell them to stop after they've razed much of Gaza in two years.
Step 3: "Blessed are the peacemakers!"
Scalise: "If Nobel wants to restore what used to be a once dignified prize, they can restore their credibility by awarding President Trump the Nobel Peace Prize. He's earned it."

Alt/paraphrase: "And these scientists and researchers, they came to me and said, "Sir, indeed the proof is not in the pudding.' To which I replied,'Well, why do you think I brought this handle of vodka?'"
RFK Jr on Tylenol and autism: "It is not proof. We're doing the studies to make the proof."

We didn't hit the J6 criminals hard enough. Every person who willingly cooperated in this hostile takeover of our country needs to be imprisoned and registered on a Democracy Offenders Database that renders them unemployable and unable to enjoy any remainder of their life.

Them: we have war at home
The war at home:
Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

If you're shopping on Amazon on Prime Day or one of the big sale events, use camelcamelcamel to see if you're actually getting a deal. This sale is a "Prime Big Deal" at 43% off and yet it's gone down to this price 20+ times in a year. It's also never even hit $26, much less the $36 listed.

Think of the end goal here. "Plenary power," as Stephen Miller put it. To do that, stop elections. To do that, declare war. To do that, send thugs that have no value to Trump other than to agitate enough to force retaliation by civilians first and state governments second.
Not only can states prosecute felonious federal officials, it is a tactic that has been championed by some on the right, as I discuss here.
States can step into the breach
Just because Pam Bondi won't hold Trump's thugs accountable doesn't mean they're above all laws.

Somewhere in the Pentagon and the White House, at least one person has said something to the effect of, "Charlie's death was awful, but he's going to be the martyr we can use to declare civil war / suspension of elections / go all in on occupying every Democrat stronghold."

Dictator math: Cut any sort of welfare and support that would get people into a better situation and then criminalize their very existence as they drown in your systematic lobotomy of "for the people" governance.
the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

Logged back into myfitnesspal after a good while. The downfall. Paywalling features like macros that were core to the experience years ago just screams stagnation. Shrinkflation but for software. They couldn't innovate, can't find new revenue streams, so they're holding free users by gunpoint.

I don't think the answer is particularly to fire the numbers person but to assess whether the metric we're hinging monthly economic growth on makes sense in the landscape of ghost job postings, mass layoffs, increasing wage gaps, and cost of living imbalances.
REPORTER: Why did you fire the head of the bureau of labor statistics?

TRUMP: Because I thought her numbers were wrong

Magamath: If there are positives, it's because of tarrifs. If there are negatives, it's because you're a failure.

It's all high-level politics and grudges to these people. And then there's the international student who's maybe the first of their family to get to college and is in the midst of life-changing journey, but now is scrambling hopelessly to get into another university this late in the summer.
The Republican administration is also ordering all current international students (and postdocs, I believe) at Harvard to transfer or leave the country.

Democracy is proving to be a handshake deal by one person assuming the best in people and another who has every intention of clawing the last shred of dignity, joy, and worth from everyone but themselves.

The thing I'm realizing about the USAID shutdown is that while it may represent 1% of the overall budget, your average Republican writes off Musk/DOGE's overreach and says the agency deserved it. That then smoothes over DOGE takeover of the Treasury last week and paves the way for further overreach.
