Also because it was there and I had a craving a while back.

It's that time of year where I make a nearly two-hour round trip out to the US food importer to be price-gouged for things that cost a few dollars back where I grew up.

But! But!

Happy three years to this lovely man. I've been continually impressed at your heart, inquisitiveness, patience, and intelligence. You have been a rock that's made me feel supported and loved, and you've done that while still making space for my other partner in our shared lives as well. Love you. ❤️

I dreamed last night that I baked a sour cream and strawberry cake — something I certainly have no waking recollection of knowing about, but lo and behold I searched and it is indeed a thing. I don't bake much and get nervous when I do, but this was absolutely delicious. Thanks dream Joshua!

Oh wild I can’t believe Joe Biden is still forcing websites to take down things the government has an issue with like during a pandemic when they asked platforms to take some responsibility about misinformation — oh, he’s not president anymore and conservatives are just hypocrites? Nah, couldn’t be.

Scotch fillet steak with the best mushroom peppercorn sauce I have ever made, legitimately, it's better than anything I have had in a restaurant. Sides are roasted chilli carrots, mash with butter peas, and garlic sautéed spinach.

Wow Second Life's graphics are really getting good lately

Anyway I'm going to quit writing and game development and go back to my first joy, making tiny robots.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been invited to speak at this year’s High Score event at Melbourne International Games Week; I’ll be on the panel "How To Speak Dev and Influence Designers" about music and game development.

I have done a slep. Here is my moon.
September 8, 2025 at 2:53 AM
We got up (some of us more begrudgingly than others) to go watch the lunar eclipse at 3:30 am from a nature reserve. Surprisingly absolutely no one else around, who would have thought!

Vlas' ambivalence about the 3D printer changed as soon as I used it to print a squeeze-thingy for the toothpaste tube.

This is a near-60 year old man to a then-17 year old teenager. Linehan is deeply, alarmingly fixated on an issue that objectively has nothing to do with him and I think this behaviour merits psychological scrutiny in the way that the biggest homophobes are often dealing with their own sexuality.

Happiest of birthdays to my handsome man Ryan, thank you for letting me share another one with you. ❤️

I had to reprint this (if you don't know what "this" is, i made a video here: youtu.be/fIsmaoFM5zk?...) to accommodate magnets to keep the doors shut and I decided to tweak other things I have noticed in the two weeks I used the OG bag. Also decided to move to neon blue instead of neon green.

A week in Hobart with my partners flowed into another week-long road trip across rural Victoria. Today we visited a spot that had a painful connection back to the very first time I experienced it alongside an abusive, crappy ex-boyfriend.

No man is ever going to gratify me the way this does. 🤤

(Also I think the bag is finally done, it has its first real test running errands today so we will see how it performs!)

I ordered some 2x1mm magnets as a way to tidy up the last bit with this 3D-printed bag (I didn't like how the doors were behaving once I had stuff in it) and I clearly have a wide gulf in my head between what I think a millimetre is vs what a millimetre really is. These are... smaller than expected.

Oops, I took too long playing Clair Obscur (I GOT TO THE FINAL ACT OKAY, JESUS) and then The Alters surprised dropped on me completely unexpectedly — I've been waiting for this game for years, so this is my life now.

Wahey, here we go! All up this was maybe a day of work, few hours to remember how Blender works to do the model and then figuring out how to get it from Blender to the printer.

Fun with 3D printing, I accidentally scaled the first one too small (adorable, but like 1/6th what I wanted). Then I reprinted the body at the right size but realised after that it’s going to be a mess scaling the attachment pieces now that I separated the body. I THINK I got the math right, though.

Anyway we'll see how much of this tutorial I retained when it comes time to make my own geometry.

I'm so happy, in my near-twenty years here in Australia I have quested for southern-style grits and the closest I ever came was polenta, but much to my surprise there's a brand of stuff in a random Russian grocery store half an hour away that tastes almost 100% the same as what I grew up with.
