well this wins the internet today
I made a Doom source port that runs within a PDF file.

PDFs support Javascript, so Emscripten is used to compile Doom to asm.js, which is then run within the PDF engine. Input/output is done by manipulating text input fields.

This moment in Bluesky is a great example of how joy itself can be defiance and resistance.

We are just hanging out, shitposting, being silly, happy, and normal. It is being treated as if it is transgressive, opting out of the endless negativity. Because in a way, it is.

Joy is my favorite weapon.

I will be honest: with Mastodon, what put me off with a lot of UNSAID expectations.

It felt like you cannot just write something like here:

- What server you’re on matters (each one has own rules)

- Adding filters to posts were (sometimes) important (eg if writing about politics or Twitter)
Mastodon felt too niche, and had a barrier to entry which was confusing. Bluesky is very very similar to Twitter (and I specifically mean Twitter and not X).

This has been a great 'start', obviously has been going a number of years and hit critical mass now. I tried Mastodon but just didn't keep using it, same with Threads.
Jay: I think social media should be basically common infrastructure that society gets to use and evolve it as society evolves, building a more democratic form of social media to reflect a democratic society.

Some people made fun of Netflix's problems yesterday. I wonder how many of them have built systems that can handle 60k concurrent users, let alone 60 million!

Live events are hard, even when you can anticipate the traffic.
