Hell in a Small Place III is here!

Took me a bit longer to wrap my brain around this one, but I think I’ve got something you’ll really enjoy!

I tier ranked all of Joe Abercrombie’s books, just for fun.

Say one thing for Abercrombie, say he doesn’t miss.

Word of the day is a favourite, from old Scots.

To ‘tartle’ is to hesitate while introducing someone because you have completely forgotten their name.

Was talking with a Vietnam expert this week and this subject (that I now feel I know a good bit about) continues to get more and more interesting.

There’s so many foibles, so many mistakes.

And yet so many common themes that can be found in America today

Things I wish I learned in school:

John Adams was an ambassador to BARBARY PIRATES after the Revolution

Justinian and Theodora had their own gossip columnist (still can be read today)

We were never taught how ruthless Saddam was, or, for that matter, any history of the Middle East.

Ever since kiddo #1 was born, I’ve been completely unable to write

maybe unable is too strong—*distracted* might be a better word, also the Vietnam thing

Anyway, dove back into a 2 year old novel project and *BOOM* 2500 words in 2 days.

Hell in a Small Place II is out NOW

This one explores how a perceived western power could possibly lose to an upstart revolutionary opponent, and how perhaps the west misunderstood the entire conflict.

I’m hoping this platform gets enough users to become a viable alternative to the other place. The user experience here is SOOO much better.

No bots
Less nut jobs
No politics (mostly)

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of GRAVE EMPIRE by one of my new favorites, Richard Swan.

-horror in epic fantasy
-existential dread
-zombies (sorta)

It’s a wild ride #books

Some of my favorite history podcasts have coupled limited release shows with distinct cover art with each series of shows.

I’ve tried to go down the same route with Compendium, and I’m really excited about how the art has turned out so far!

The pike and shot era has to be the most fascinating era in military history.

Guns
Fully armored knights
Phalanx-esque pikemen

Lordy.
