Someone should tell Russell T Davies that he himself actually made 4 very good series of Doctor Who without any money from Disney

Does Anglican Bluesky have any good suggestions about a book to read on pre ordination retreat?

Feel like todays episode of Doctor Who was a very reliable, ordinary but solid episode with a tight script and some good ideas in a way that RTD hasn’t really done since coming back. Last series felt like it was swinging between experimental one offs or the big blockbuster double bill at the end.

Thought The Brutalist was very good, it felt substantial but not indulgent. Fascinating dynamics at play and full of meaty ideas. I found the long runtime actually flew by.

Incredible production of Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre. Full of joy and enthusiasm. Also really lovely and warm. There was a great atmosphere in the theatre and it was fantastic to see so many children enjoying the magic.

At The National Theatre for their production of Ballet Shoes. Having been enthralled by the 2007 BBC version aged 8. I had forgotten of course that the original novel stands in the canon of books by clergy children.

These are the films I enjoyed/liked/thought about the most this year. Tbh I don’t know how many are all time greats or favourites but I do think some are very good.

The Importance of Being Earnest at The National Theatre was ridiculously good. Hugely entertaining. Sharon D Clarke’s Lady Bracknell is a performance for the ages.
