Toronto's Line 5 is a perfect example of value capture. Along 2 miles of the new line, over 35k housing units will be developed, with the resulting property taxes and new residents more than covering the capital costs of the transit.

It would be cool if American cities (looking at you #sanfrancisco) would do this. We could even put our own spin on it by using green in this way. Let’s do it!
I appreciate the Dutch use of red in their infrastructure. Beyond aesthetics, color differentiation like this is a design principle that enhances safety and clarity, making spaces more navigable and reducing the monotony of endless gray asphalt in our cities.
Rondje gefietst: Herengracht parkeervrij, Wielingenstraat met fietspad, Nieuwezijds met breed (fietsparkeerluw) trottoir, Frederik Hendrikplantsoen zonder doorgaand autoverkeer. Wordt vervolgd in 2024 😀
