The White House got a new logo at NOON ET today.

With every administration, a new logo is created and used on everything from official letterhead to the backdrop in the briefing room.

The logo for Trump's second term looks significantly jazzed up.

Good news:

New trademark applications are now being reviewed 2+ months faster by the USPTO.

The bad news?

Registering a trademark still takes about 14+ months.

This is due to increased processing times on the back end of applications now.

Nevertheless, we will take progress where we can :)

So, who is going to win?

It is unlikely the case will go to trial.

Most trademark cases of this nature are settled.

In all likelihood, the Marines will withdraw the application, and the NCAA will allow "MARCH MANIA" to be used in a limited capacity.

In the legal action, the NCAA claims that:

1️⃣ It was using the "MARCH MADNESS" trademark before the Marines used "MARCH MANIA."

2️⃣ The trademarks are confusingly similar.

3️⃣ "MADNESS" and "MANIA" are synonyms.

Just days after the US election, a trademark application was filed in Russia for a Trump-inspired vodka brand:

Per Russian law, the country's trademark office should refuse the application because it was filed without Trump's consent.

Why?

1️⃣ San Francisco has a strong, protectable trademark.

2️⃣ The use of "San Francisco Bay" in the name makes it likely that consumers would assume an affiliation between the airports.

3️⃣ The affiliation could cause irreparable damage to San Francisco's trademark.

To that end, San Francisco asked the court to order Oakland to cease use of the name immediately.

The court granted that request despite also finding that San Francisco did not provide sufficient evidence that travelers have been confused since the name change occurred.

November 19, 2024 at 4:02 PM
The lawsuit was filed in April after the Oakland Airport announced that it would be changing its name to:

SAN FRANCISCO BAY OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

In the suit, San Francisco claimed that travelers might get confused and book tickets to the wrong airport.
