But I get his point: allow us to call inner functions to load data. I don't believe he means literally call the current state of said functions... In a parallel reality, where that's possible, we have better functions, with improved DX, to interact with the low-level data structures.

In the right diagram we simply don't care, initially, on how data is being stored, but much more on how interactions are made between the different domains. Databases might still exist, but it's an unimportant detail at this point.

I don't think it's because one prioritizes APP over DB in terms of modeling. It's just that it's modeling around technical details... I currently believe we should model our understandig of how things work, first, around the business domains.
