My little studio is pretty much set up, and it is time to dive in. So far, I have not found panels (which I prefer to use up to about 50x60cm or A2-ish size) that are up to my standards. I have found cradeled boards that are quite nice, and of course, fantastic Belgian linen. 1/2

Unexpected bounty for a starving artist: compost-pile volunteer squash. These grew over the summer without planting, care, or coaxing. I was thinking they would not taste good. But they are so yummy!

You can’t overestimate the value of in-person study. This handsome fellow is Caravaggio, who put himself as an onlooker into his incredible painting The Taking of Christ. I was able to spend and hour or two with the original in The National Gallery of Ireland a few weeks ago. Learnt so much.
