You might have seen me on the Tomorrow Show or in Reader's Digest. If so, congratulations on your extended survival.
Someone should ask the guy, what does it feel like to know that 2/3 of 350 million people literally have their lives on hold, waiting increasingly impatiently for you to die?

Not only is Trump a Putin asset, he seems to have become Putin (except with a better military)

Compared:

WinCo Italian Hoagie
$6
about a foot long, big
lots of meat+cheese
no tomato, no lettuce, no onion, no oil+vinegar

Town & Country Italian Hoagie
$12
smaller going on "small"
moderate meat+cheese
proper veggies and oil+vinegar

I'm going with WinCo but dang, I have to salad it myself?

Ben Affleck is so good at playing TJ Miller in Extract that first I thought, TJ Miller actually looks a lot like Ben Affleck, then I thought, TJ Miller is playing two parts in the movie?

The FBI periodically finds some rube who has "direct action" on his brain, helps him get diluted hydrogen peroxide and modeling clay-4, and after he is stupid enough on hidden camera, sends him away to prison for a couple decades.

Don't be that rube. I won't be too sad if you are.
Also: note the absolutely otherworldly quality of the diction and tone here. Only the Federal Bureau of Investigation is so precise. Note how the agent has absolutely no ear for what sounds sinister and what sounds silly.

Circuits and fireworks have fuses.
Munitions have mechanical fuzes.
Bomb techs defuse fuzes.
Gases diffuse.
Negotiators defuse situations by diffusing tension.
Bombs are ordnance.
Cities enact ordinances.

You're welcome.

The fact that some rich old white assholes want to fuck up the United States' 250th Anniversary coinage by slapping busts of already well known white men (some of whom were slave owners) onto them, angers me hugely.

"We're a bunch of dicks -- stamp that on coins!"

Measles sounds fun

"...the winter of 1917 saw more than 95,000 military measles cases, and more than 3,200 deaths, with thousands more soldiers disabled by empyemas and disfiguring/debilitating thoracotomies"

How the 1917 army measles epidemics changed emerging infectious disease awareness
Background: An argument can be made that if there was a “moment” in time when our response to emerging infectious diseases became recognizably modern, it may have been in 1917-1918, during the fatal m...

My CDRs etc from the 1990s work great, zero errors, optical media will be workable for quite a while I think, just bought a stack of 50 GB M-DISCs

My DAT tapes, oh shucks, I should have done something about that
I talk about this sometimes to folks not in academic or archival spaces and they scoff, then they get 👀👀, then they drink
One of the books in my office is 290 years old. It’s still in excellent condition and easy to read. I wonder how easy it’ll be to read electronic texts 290 years from now. I expect it’ll be rather trickier.

I feel like a fact-filled rant regarding execution by "inert gas hypoxia."

This is a topic with a few important points that media is getting entirely wrong or distorting.

Please read. Don't take this as advocating for the death penalty, as I strongly oppose it. It's information only.

I thought this fucker was dead already.

I will say: His restaurant in Scottsdale (well, not his for quite some time, but still) has fucking excellent food. The braised short rib is to die for. Seriously. OMG so good.

I wrote this in response to a manager overseeing my interview process at Canonical (Ubuntu) today. There's not room for the reply, so I'll post it as an image. But the summary is (and I am an extremely verbally skilled American white guy that this favors):

The Thomas GIA test is racist as fuck.

Unsure how much I'll post here but we'll see.

Maybe some programming stuff.

Maybe some links to music.

Politics, not so much.
