Reflecting on the AWS Dynamo DB outage a few days ago, in light of Adrian Cockcroft's excellent writeup and call out of cyclical dependencies. Give it a read if you're similarly interested.

OH: it's kind of like the beef between Kendrick and Drake if both of them were Drake.

This BBC graphic is a good way to show why reciprocal 25% tariffs will cause prices on some goods to go up far more than 25%.

A piston used in a car engine made in Michigan will cross the U.S. border twice, and will be taxed 25% each time.

Some products cross the U.S. border even more than that.

Healthcare should be a fundamental human right, and not governed by profit motive.

Being in a similar position, all I can say is... there are no good choices. All of them suck. And it's incredibly limiting because you know people who give their all and deserve so much better. The American Healthcare system is foundationally flawed, and neither side can or will fix it.
Here’s what you need to know about CEOs and healthcare: I’ve been a CEO multiple times, and it’s a fucking moral outrage that I had a say in whether workers could live with dignity, and provide their loved ones with the care they need. It’s an inexcusable system that violates basic human rights.

"The only time we suffer is when we believe a thought that argues with what is." -- Byron Katie

Had this conversation with my nephew last night. Sit with your disappointment for a bit. Understand it before reacting. Often the frustration is with unrealistic expectations, of ourselves, of others.

Interested in a fun way to burn RAM and CPU?

Install a 34B parameter model on your laptop and ask it what directory it's in. 👀⌚🤣
