Never, and I would be worried for anyone claiming they have, as I would see that as a symptom of lack of critical thinking. But there are many civil avenues to voice disagreement.

My impression is that Toronto is being ruled by its suburbs. So my question would be: “what do studies of public opinion pre- and post-amalgamation in other communitiesshow? What factors explain those results? If there is discontent, what studies are there of deamalgamation?”

Anecdote of course, but yes, I think that’s what happened. Here on Vancouver Island we elected Liberals for the first time in forever to deny a Conservative win.

Though having an ineffective NDP leader prodded matters along too.

As @beenwrekt.bsky.social (I think) pointed out, the right analogy here is not "AI experts = Climate experts" but rather "AI experts = Oil executives". At least for the particular AI experts Roose is referring to.
