Today marks 10 years of celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science 👩🏼‍🔬🐟🦈🌊

So grateful for the opportunities I have been blessed with and the amazing women I have had the privilege of working with.

On a separate note, today is Penguin Awareness Day. I had the privilege of working with the critically endangered African penguin for 2+ years. Unfortunately, we’ve already lost over 97% of the population due to habitat loss, lack of food availability, climate change, etc. They deserve protection!

Notice how I calmly coexist with these bull sharks and understand/respect that I am the visitor here?

Very demure, very mindful 💅🏻

You know you chose the right career path when you’re still smiling this big after 7 hours of pulling nets and IDing/measuring fish in the hot Florida sun.

When you know, you know! 🐟

It’s never fun getting a call about a dead shark washed up on shore. However, these samples help researchers learn more about highly migratory species. Life history assessments can help us make appropriate conservation management decisions for individual species, such as this mako.

Hey Bluesky!

My name is Jordan Zulli, and I am a graduate student in the Marine Science program at Nova Southeastern University. I am in the Fisheries and Avian Ecology Lab studying the age/growth/reproduction of two understudied stingray species in the Indian River Lagoon, FL. Happy to be here! 🦈🌊
