More specifically, I need to take a risk on more games. This ratings graph kind of reads to me that I don't play games that I'm not 90% sure I'm going to enjoy, which isn't really aligned with my goal to be a Games Enthusiast™ who appreciates all kinds of games. I can't appreciate what I don't play!

Post a screenshot of your first 5 Steam purchases and let Bluesky judge you

Everything checks out except these two Sonic games, I didn't even know I had them. Weird, was I a Sonic fanboy back in the day...?

What about the bar from the Stardew Valley fishing minigame? Taking a mechanic a lot of people kind of dislike and making it central to a game could be fun.

The problems (and lessons) begin around round 3, as ascended devils take two hits to kill. This forces you to spends extra pieces in areas where you could really use them in other parts of the map where devils are more numerous or farther away.

The village survives at the end of a round when more villagers are remaining then devils.
When you clear a round with all possible devils killed, you are awarded an extra villager placed randomly around the 8x10 grid (not 8x8 as I said in the previous post, whoops).

Okay, so pausing on Bug Hunter, let's talk about Devilition. Devilition is a game about exploding devils with chain reactions to save a village from destruction. You place various objects around an 8x8 grid to explode other objects in other places to kill all devils and spare all villagers.

Pretty simple, right? Wrong. This is a very hard game, as the gameplay evolves as the aliens do: any aliens you don't kill during a day evolve into an ascended form that, when killed, makes something bad happen, such as the grid space underneath the alien turning into a hole, spikes coming out, etc.

Bug Hunter, on its surface, shares very little DNA with the game of chess. You are a bug hunter tasked with clearing a mining quarry on the Moon free of bugs. The goal of the game is to kill all the bugs required for each day and to survive 10 days. The game looks like this (alt text for more info):

So recently I've developed a bit of an obsession with chess after a lifelong disinterest in the game and being surrounded by people who love to play it.

Upon reflection, I'm putting the blame squarely on UFO 50, specifically Bug Hunter and Devilition.
