I cannot overstate how happy I am to see the @kingdomsofthedump.bsky.social team be recognized for the gem they have crafted, I hope they sell 1 million copies due to help from coverage like this.
Kingdoms of the Dump is one of the year's most charming RPGs, an Earthbound-inspired game set in a world made of trash, where you fight in landfills and heal with moldy sandwiches. Which is fitting — it was made by two janitors.

I’m not even a 3D modeler and this is a dead simple choice: throw Blender $5 if you can to help keep the dreams of indie artists financially acheiveable!
Blender is struggling. it's the best piece of 3d software on the market, and it's free. I'm not going back to autodesk.
please donate if you can!

Just got my backer Steam key!

It’s crazy to think of how long I’ve waited for this game, I remember waiting for the game’s early art and music concepts to drop on Roach Games’ Instagram way back in 2019 when I still had an account.

I’m very excited for Garbage Day tomorrow! 🗑️🪳🫧🎻🧥🐀

Gabe Cube is real! Also, the Steam Frame existing gives me hope for a future when Meta no longer dominates VR, this space can only improve by having competent competitors appear, which Valve certainly is.
Announcing: New @steampowered.com Hardware, coming in 2026:

Steam Controller
Steam Machine
Steam Frame.

It's a hectic week for me wrt Steam Next Fest but nothing could keep me from the Goodnight Universe demo. Before Your Eyes was amazing in ways that confound, and the next game from the devs who made it feels very much like a spiritual successor, check it out!

Goodnight Universe Demo on Steam
This demo is around 20 minutes long, featuring a handful of scenes from early in the game. As you play as Isaac, you’ll learn what makes you special, how to conceal that special side from your family,...

started Discworld with The Color of Magic, absolutely hilarious book so far!

Started Hades II this week after patiently awaiting its 1.0 launch. As expected, the roguelike gameplay is awesome and a true upgrade over the first game, but I'm loving the writing most of all.

I was updating my Backloggd today and came to the conclusion that I need to play more games, shocking.

I had a lot of fun this week working on my game concept Bamboo Dog (竹 の 犬) for the #FallingBlockJam. Unfortunately, I ran out of time due to some personal stuff this week so it isn't at all playable or feature complete, but you can check it out here anyways:

flaw recounted.
the movement system is the best I’ve seen in a 2D game, genuinely the most fun I had was just moving through areas quickly by very skillfully using the movement options you unlock.

One flaw: Silksong needs a SM64 Koopa The Quick footrace minigame, I would KILL for that.

rolled credits on Silksong earlier today at 22 hours in, what a special game. against all odds it lived up to the hype for me!
September 7, 2025 at 3:30 AM
never before have I had such a blast moving through areas in a video game.

we need acrobatic movement in all metroidvanias moving forward now, thank you for your attention to this matter!

Everything checks out except these two Sonic games, I didn't even know I had them. Weird, was I a Sonic fanboy back in the day...?

time to make a home server for hosting all my projects now, I guess :/

gotta love when a perfectly good product turns hostile against its dedicated users in the endless capitalism-fueled pursuit of More™

My personal GOTY for 2024 is hitting the Switch! A lot of the games on here are worth the $25 alone (looking at you, Mortol, Rock On! Island, and Porgy...)

Seriously, play this game if you haven't already, it's kind of impossible to not fall in love with at least a few of the games in here.
🍒 Whoa, what's this?!

Super inspiring to see Godot almost eclipsing Unity for most used game engine for #GMTKJam! I'd be surprised if it didn't surpass it in 2026.
And here is the historical data, from 2021 to 2024.

I made a game with some friends for this year's #GMTKJam! It's called Cyclus, and it's about drawing loops to navigate through puzzly circular mazes, inspired by Nintendo DS games.

Yes, @doublefine.com’s PsychOdyssey is amazing and wonderful and deserves all the praise. Please go watch it if you are at all interested in how the sausage is made for video games, it’s free on YouTube. But goddamn, the soundtrack by @orangedrinkmusic.bsky.social slaps pretty hard on its own.

Very excited to be going to AWE this year! I hope to meet a lot of VR engineers so I can pick their brains on how they are pushing this medium forward in their own way. ✨

indie dev is interesting because you have to make something for yourself, something laser targeted at your inner sicko, because trying to do it for anyone else will hollow you out, and then when it's done you have to turn around and lie to everyone that it was actually for them all along

Been floundering a bit in my game projects recently, so I'm pretty happy I stumbled upon @mossmouth.bsky.social's excellent articles of advice on how to finish games. I think both of them are good reads, even if you feel pretty experienced at shipping (I don't, lol).
