But the red blue mapping misses something: we can never make peace with war or make love with hatred. Red and Blue represent coalitions of voters with different interests and views.

Sometimes you get the idea of truth first, then you live in it. Sometimes, friends, family, and neighbors socialize you into the truth with some unexpected (and maybe undeserved) compassion.

Yes, first popcorn. Then, if opportunities present themselves, drive the wedge as deep as it can possibly go. Sometimes hard to know if left involvement can help or if it would blunt the force of the fracture.

Appreciate that we are probably in the same team in most respects. Left hubris helped guarantee left failure. That means that left humility is an important first step to eventual moral success.

“I told you so” is evidence of lack of adequate reflection. The left clearly doesn’t know what it thinks it knows. Failing to acknowledge failure is a promise of future failure.
Acceptance is the beginning of knowledge. Start there and work forwards.
