It also sends the wrong message; no longer does the US wish to welcome the tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to feel free. Instead, freedom is for the wealthy, and the poors can starve.

What Trump is proposing with his “gold card” is to allow any wealthy foreigner to gain citizenship for a $5 million fee. This is a huge gap in our homeland security system, easily abused by adversaries.

The administration must correct this egregious oversight and allow the Forest Service to hire summer wildland firefighters before fire crews, forests, and communities are in peril. #wildfire #federalworker

I’d much rather pay a graduated income tax than force poor folks to pay even more because they cannot afford to live in a Seattle condo and walk to their place of work. #transportation #taxes

A better solution would be an income tax. I know, Washingtonians loathe the idea, but rich folks can work from home or live closer to their offices because they can afford it. The school teacher, food service worker, firefighter, etc in Seattle may not be able to make ends meet.

Who drives furthest? Folks in rural areas, those without access to reliable transit, and/or those that work jobs outside of regular hours. Often, these folks get paid the least, and/or live in far flung places because that’s the only affordable housing option they could find.

Of course, there are always going to be exceptions to any rule. The use of cliffs to drive game animals over them cannot be employed any longer, for example. We simply don’t have the space and likely not the resource to perform the activity. And there’s a recreational vs subsistence perspective too.

It is totally appropriate to manage harvest to ensure viable populations. We have more people today following European colonization, thus a greater impact on the environment. However, banning traditional harvest methods deemed “unethical” because you don’t support harvest in any form is wrong.

Or, just when white folks do it? If it’s the latter, then what they’re actually saying is that white people and their ethics are “superior” to Indigenous peoples’ ethics.

…including hunting and fishing. When they imply a hunting practice is unethical, they’re saying all hunters who employ said practice are unethical. So, Indigenous peoples who employ those practices are unethical?

Wildlife for All is pretending to care about the environment, when in reality they’re opposed to hunting and fishing harvest. So, what makes their views those of a white supremacist? People have been on this landscape for tens of thousands of years interacting with the environment…

And par for the course. Those words will be on his gravestone.

My crew mates could dig line, swing a Pulaski, run saw, and take big ‘ol dips of chew with the best, because they were the best of us. I’m honored to have served with them, and would do so again in a heartbeat. #LAfires
