In a run-down setting like a post apocalypse, or if you want things to be comedic or have a weird mechanical idea for different sides then yeah. But if it's a more pristine setting then only pairs. Could make pairs be 2*2 inventory slot and individuals be 1*2, craft to combine/separate.

I think they did that because you were doing a form of purity test, or at least it seems that way, I don't know the specifics of the matter.

Tackle, Razor Leaf, Poison Powder, Synthesis, and Body Slam. It also learns Growl, and Reflect via leveling up. And I imagine it likes playing in the soup, as an enrichment thing.
