If you're new to my account, I'm a Canadian who works with kids to amplify their voices. They say it out loud. I say it louder for the people at the back.

I don't think adults need to learn to talk to kids as much as they need to learn to LISTEN to kids.

To all of those beautiful souls who are raising trans kids and loving them as they are, to those who are living as their true selves, and to those who want to but aren't able, I see you, I support you, and I celebrate you.

A kid today in a school presentation:

I know you said you are 49, but I wanted to tell you, you look 39.

So, now I have a new best friend.

I raised 3 kids & one thing was consistent. I always burned the pancakes.

Now, my 6 yr old niece and nephew are living with me for a bit, so I decided to give it a go again.

Nothing has changed.

Parents who put themselves ahead of their kids or use their kids as pawns can kick rocks.

I know. Fighting words.

I think we should practice staying in wonder more often.

Rather than immediately pulling out our phones & searching for an answer to something we're curious about, think around it.Test your hypothesis. Try a few things. Ask others.

Anything but finding the answer through our thumbs on a screen.

Listening to Gr 4 to 6 kids today.

Question I asked: what skills do you think you learn in video games?

Gr 4 student: well, in video games when you lose you try again but lots of people in real life give up when they lose. They need to learn to try again like you do in video games.

A reminder to those of you who are going through huge life changes:

You are not your job.
You are not your relationship.

And it never was the job, or the person. It was you. And it is still you.

You're going to thrive.

Take it from someone who's been there.

Twice. 🤣

Asked Gr 10 to 12 students what they'd do differently with their kids. They said they wouldn't scare them with stuff they shouldn't know about.

Adults should not be telling kids that the world they live in is awful.

I can be angry as hell about small mindedness and injustice 😠 and still see the beauty and good that surrounds us.

When we're building stuff for teens, we need to hear what they're saying.

They don't need more activities or projects or programs with an adult agenda.

Most teens I talk to say "give us a safe space to just be and we can figure out the rest."

I think they're right.

Had a dream I met my next partner while I was trying to drive an old school vacuum cleaner around a ramp, kind of like the walkways in the Ewok village.

He was handsome and had kind eyes. And was good to his kid.

So. I'm off to buy a vacuum...😂

I feel like it's time for independently owned, local newspapers who report on facts without inserting opinion or pandering politically to make a comeback.

Let me open a paper and drink my coffee.

I hope this whole process gets well-reported. It really is the right process.

Cities need to learn everything about how to make it work.

I need people to be more impressed with the fact I've kept my plants alive for as long as I have.

I'll settle for mild acknowledgement.

"Prove them wrong" is a terrible motivator for kids who have been labeled as bad kids.

They'll never be successful in changing the minds of someone who has chosen to see, believe, and voice negativity to them. There will ALWAYS be something they're not getting right.

Don't forget to put "happy" at the top of the list when you're thinking about the life you want to give your kids.

Big houses, elite sports, vacations, the latest gaming system, none of it matters if your kids can't be who they are.

Fully accepted even if they're not who you think they should be.

Wanna help your kid develop the ability to solve their own problems? Do this.

Rather than telling them how to do something, ask them what their plan is.
