Plus I'd wager the anti-Mamdani group was also the most likely to look at Cuomo's scandals, especially the sexual harassment, and either be willing to ignore them or argue that they never should've taken him down in the first place, so those particular warts weren't disqualifying

I'd guess Cuomo was the only candidate they could see from the Dem primary who would be happy to punch left and make the loudest noises about Israel and antisemitism while also being an Islamophobic bigot — Lander and Zellnor Myrnie and Adrienne Adams weren't going to do that
