Honestly @adambecker.bsky.social does a much better job deconstructing Yudkowsky in his book, “More Everything Forever” than I could possibly hope to do so just go read that for real, well-thought critique of AI promises.

Yudkowsky famously freaked out over Roko’s Basilisk, the idea that a future AI will be so pissed at people that didn’t work to advance it that it would torture a digital simulation of them as punishment, the fear of which would somehow retroactively incentivize them to help and I MEAN COME ON.

Here he is interviewing Nate Soares, who wrote a book with Yudkowsky on the risks of AI.

To be sure, the risks of AI should be discussed, but EY is a terribly lazy pseudo-intellectual and should _not_ be given any credibility.
